KWPLA Coffeehouses
A voice in the majority
A strong Liberal majority currently forms the government of Ontario, and being the local Liberal riding association we have the unique opportunity to have a direct voice inside the party that connects with the Premier’s office, ministers, and caucus at Queen’s Park.
In order to make sure our voice is grounded in the issues of interest to the community, the Kitchener-Waterloo Provincial Liberal Association has recently begun to offer a series of coffeehouses: informal gatherings where local Liberal leaders will hear the concerns of local citizens, taking these concerns to the government.
Our goal at these events is not to promote any particular issue or policy of the Ontario Liberal Party, but rather to serve as good listeners to be sure that we’re accurately communicating the needs of our local citizens to the government in power. These events serve as excellent opportunities for local citizens to have their voices heard by those in Queen’s Park, and to be sure that the local Liberal association knows of the issues that are important in Kitchener-Waterloo.
A wide range of issues
Each coffeehouse is designed to deal with a specific issue that is relevant to the provincial government: education, healthcare, the environment, poverty, and many more. Each will look at the following questions:
- What is being done well on the issue?
- What could use improvement on the issue?
- How can we help you in the work that you are doing on this issue?
A chance to be heard
Our next coffeehouse will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00pm.
